welcome child..

Sometimes in my work themes arise; and when it does consistently it reminds me- AHA- pay attention now. There is something here for you too…

So I wrote myself this poem and invitation, and I wrote it for YOU too. As we are all in this process of learning and growth together.

WELCOME CHILD

It's time to make peace with the child

The one that's been kicking around

Bumping up inside

All these years

The one that has been

Tugging at you and

Pouting

And waiting

For your attention

Crossed arms perhaps, or

Stamping feet,

or flailing limbs lost

in the overwhelm of sensation-

Just hold me, hang out with me,

play with me, or

Tell me it is all gonna be alright!

The one who stands with a casually reached arm

holding the incredible gifts of your essence

placed in the palm of their small hand.

The one who doesn’t even know that what they offer

is exactly what you need right now.

That they so openly offer the magic that turns the key

to your pleasure, curiosity, compassion,

creativity, intuition, or brilliance.

And you have gifts for them too-
because

only you know what unmet needs they have,

only you know how to love them the way that has

always seemed missing,
only you can truly make them feel safe, seen, and heard.

So when you see them,

meet their eyes

and build that relationship.

Notice their age and bring them

appropriate offerings-

Don’t try to roller skate with the baby or

be still with the one ready to climb trees.

As you are connecting with your inner child

you are also connecting with your inner parent-

who delights in knowing this young being-

Feel that child breathe a sigh of relief
FINALLY someone who gets me has come along!

And your divinity sits at the corner of this

cosmic playpen,

this reconciling of disparate parts,

smiling at the power of unification,

of a love born within and flowing without.
